About me

I am a philosopher of science and molecular biologist, working primarily on philosophical and historical questions in biology and chemistry.

Currently, I am a Hans Przibram Postdoctoral Fellow at the Konrad Lorenz Institute for Evolution and Cognition Research (KLI), where I am working on a project exploring the scientific controversy over the structure and content of evolutionary theory.

Previously, I was a regular postdoctoral fellow at the KLI, where my research was focused on the applicability of evolutionary theory to contemporary Origins of Life (OoL) research.

My PhD was in synthetic biology, within the ‘Building a Synthetic Cell’ (BaSyC) consortium, working on synthetic cell functionalization and philosophical definitions of life as part of the Huck group at Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Before pursuing a PhD, I completed bachelor’s and master’s degrees in philosophy and molecular biology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
